Whether you want to cut your own tree, pick a live tree and have it cut for you, buy a tree already cut or buy a living tree you can plant, this page provides detailed listings of Southeastern Virginia's
choose-and-cut Christmas tree farms, places to buy pre-cut (also called pre-harvested and fresh-cut) trees, stands, sleigh rides,
hay rides and related winter events and fun.
Some listings are for tree farms, others are tree lots, and some only offer hay rides, sleigh rides or other winter events. READ EACH LISTING to know what each facility offers. The farms are listed further down this page, so scroll down the page! I'm always looking for more to add, and to correct any inaccuracies or errors, so if you encounter any,
please email me!
Tips:
- If the name of the farm is blue with an underline; that's a link to their website. Click on it for the most current hours and information.
- ALWAYS call the farm or store BEFORE YOU GO to confirm their supply, their hours
and whether they have trees, are allowing choose-and-cut or just precut trees; and which attractions or winter activities are available.
All three can change during the short Christmas season, due to weather, demand and the farmer's business conditions! Farms get sold, shut down or run out of trees, and I have no way of knowing, because I can't call or visit every farm every month, let alone every day. For
more tips to make your trip fun
and successful, click here! DON'T DRIVE OUT THERE IF YOU CAN'T REACH THEM BY PHONE OR EMAIL!
- And please tell the farmer you visit in Southeastern Virginia that you found their farm
here! I need the farmers to realize that you found them here so that they will keep their information up to date!

A visitor writes on December 11, 2011: "We visited Lonesome Pine
Christmas Tree Farm today. Don't waste your time driving out there. The
trees, what few they have, aren't pretty, and don't look like they've ever
been shapped up. This was probably a pretty farm at one time, we were very
disappointed. "
A visitor writes on November 26, 2011: "Hello! Thanks for putting
together this site. We've used it for a couple of years now and had great
luck. This year we tried Lonesome Pine. Called ahead and the gentleman who
answered said they were open and had plenty of trees. (Note: this farm
requires you to bring your own saw; trees are $20 and the field isn't mowed
so dress accordingly.) When we arrived, the only thing that greeted us was a
dog. We sat there for a while but never saw a person. Just wanted to let you
know so that other folks can plan to arrange a time or ask what the
procedure is when they call. From Lonesome Pine we ventured over to
Emerson's (about 25 miles). Very small operation with very limited selection
but we got a great tree at a great price ($30). Thanks again! -Robin"

A visitor writes on December 23, 2010: "We have used your site
multiple times to find trees as well pick your own fruits in the summer and
have always been happy with your recommendations. However, this year we
tried a new lot based on the glowing comments on your site and it is the
WORST real tree we have gotten in 20 years. Their "shaking" was about 3
seconds, as a result we had to remove a garbage bag full of dead, dirty
needles when we got it home. They were more interested in getting our check
than shaking the tree and providing hospitality to our family that we were
used to experiencing at LaRon farms. As an added bonus we woke up this
morning to a huge spider web on the top of the now decorated tree covered
with hundreds of baby spiders!! As I mentioned we have had real trees for
the last 20 years and have never had this happen. We will NEVER go back to
Hanover Pines and want to make sure others don't have the bad experience we
did. "
A visitor writes on October 02, 2010: "For the past two years,
we've gone to Hanover Pines to cut our own tree. They're definitely off the
beaten path, but it is worth the drive! Their tree selection is outstanding,
have reasonable prices, and the staff is very helpful. They even tie the
tree onto your car for you and provide tasty hot cider while you wait."
A visitor writes on December 22, 2008: "Hanover Pines was
WONDERFUL!!!! I know its a little late in the season, but I would HIGHLY
recommend them to anyone. Great selection of trees, very reasonable prices,
awesome Christmas decorations for sale..."
